Harness the Power of Spring: 5 Creative Ways to Set Intentions This Season

As the world awakens from its winter slumber, spring presents us with a natural opportunity for renewal and growth. It's the perfect time to set intentions that align with our desires and goals, guiding us towards a season of purposeful living.

I often feel the pull of seasonal transitions, but they are muddied by unsettled weather patterns (here in the UK!), and a sense of change happening without truly know what I might need to change with it.

Calligraphy has helped me work with the changing seasons

Running my Seasonal Reset sessions with mindful calligraphy practices and mindset exercises has been transformative for myself, and the people joining me. Blending creativity with intention setting and creating a vision board brings:

• Clarity around what I want

• Excitement about where I’m going

• Puts me in the energy of those opportunities

• Channels the seasonal goodness that otherwise passes me by

Think for a moment, in winter do you wear the same clothes as in summer? Do you drink or eat the same foods? Do you go and do the same things? I don’t either. But being intentional about what we do want to do, make, create – and be – in each season, helps us flourish in deeper ways, more efficient ways, and offers an awareness of time, place, and joy in the moments – which helps us navigate the more challenging moments, when life gives us those inevitable bitter lemons.

So, where do you start with setting intentions for spring?

If you're looking to infuse your spring with intentionality, here are some actionable steps to get you started. Psst… you don’t need to do it all at once, and you may enjoy doing only one, and that’s fine too.

  1. Reflect on Your Values: Take some time to reflect on what truly matters to you. What are your core values and beliefs? How do you want to show up in the world? By understanding what drives you, you can set intentions that are in alignment with your authentic self.

  2. Visualise Your Ideal Spring: Close your eyes and imagine your ideal spring season. What do you see, hear, and feel? Visualising your desires can help you clarify what you truly want to manifest during this time of renewal.

  3. Create a Spring Vision Board: Get creative and make a spring vision board filled with images, words, and symbols that represent your intentions for the season. Display it somewhere you'll see it daily to stay inspired and focused on your goals.

  4. Embrace Spring Cleaning for Your Mind: Just as we declutter our physical space in spring, take the time to declutter your mind. Release any limiting beliefs, negative thoughts, or emotional baggage that no longer serve you. Create space for new intentions to flourish.

  5. Set Rituals and Routines: Establishing daily or weekly rituals can help you stay consistent in your intention-setting practice. Whether it's journaling, meditation, or a morning walk, find rituals that resonate with you and incorporate them into your routine.

But you might equally just like a simple intention setting exercise to get you started, like my Monthly Intention Setting Map you can grab for free.

To truly attune to the energy of spring, you may like to also take advantage of the beauty of spring by spending time outdoors in nature. Practice mindfulness as you observe the blooming flowers, chirping birds, and warm sunshine. Allow yourself to be fully present in the moment and connect with the energy of the season.

Bring creativity to your intention setting

Why not try incorporating some of these creative ideas too:

1.     Reflect on Your Values: Write three core values in creative lettering, or calligraphy and allow your mind to decorate in any way you want. Celebrate these with colours, or keep them to a subtle, favourite colour.

2.     Visualise Your Ideal Spring: Hold you pencil or pen on the paper and allow your mind to visualise and make marks – with no expectation or need to draw anything specific. Use the breath as a guide. Just make marks and lines and shapes and…enjoy.

3.     Create a Spring Vision Board: A deeper creative exercise, you could do this on paper, cut out images, draw pictures, add lettering, or simply write ‘SPRING’ in the centre of a page and annotate with all the intentions that connect you to your values.

 4.     Embrace Spring Cleaning for Your Mind: You could do this with a guided meditation on somewhere like, Insight Timer, or journal your thoughts – perhaps even tearing up or burning (safely!), the unhelpful thoughts to let go of.

5.     Set Rituals and Routines: I love setting these – no so good at sticking to them, but I have learned over the years to know it’s okay for these to come and go and evolve over time. They are useful until they are not, so have fun crafting and planning (I LOVE to plan) as this might be the activity that helps you set the intention for something that opens up opportunities, more joy, more clarity, more of something you need right now, even if it’s just for spring.

Setting intentions is not just about achieving specific outcomes but also about cultivating a mindset of growth and abundance. By infusing your spring with intentionality, you can create a season filled with purpose, joy, and fulfilment.

So, embrace the energy of this vibrant season and let your intentions blossom and flourish.
